Environmental Design Service was started in 1987 as a consulting business initially focused on onsite wastewater system design becoming one of the leaders in that field in Pennsylvania having designed thousands of onlot systems of all types. It has expanded into related fields, but continues to offer the same high quality services for a variety of clients.
Our staff include professionals in the onlot wastewater field, soil science, and wetlands, with a combined total of over 60 years of experience.

Greg has more than 39 years experience in the onsite wastewater field, first serving as a Certified Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO), for a private company serving over 15 municipalities in Berks, Lancaster, Schuylkill, and Lebanon Counties. He founded Environmental Design Service in 1987 and has conducted thousands of soil tests and designed thousands of systems of all types. He also served as president of Pennsylvania Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (POWRA), was on the board of Pennsylvania Association of Sewage Enforcement Officers (PASEO), and was a member of the PA Sewage Advisory Committee.
Greg Marshall formally retired in June 2023. However, he continues to do Consulting privately and assists EDS with alternative technology design work.

Ross has over 30 years experience in Pennsylvania Onsite Sewage Disposal Program. As a local agency Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO), for over 15 years, he has experience in all aspects of planning, permitting, inspections, and enforcement. With 15 years experience as a local agency SEO, he has tested, permitted, and inspected hundreds of onlot septic systems. As an ARCPACS certified Soil Scientist, he is able to site newer technologies for onlot sewage disposal on more challenging sites. Ross also has Institute for Wetland & Environmental Education & Research (IWEER) training in wetlands delineation.
